The Undercroft Cafe is one of the oldest surviving spaces in Windsor Castle. It dates back to the renovations undetaken by Edward III in the 1350’s and 1360’s. It has been, in its time, the Castle’s principal cellar, a silver scullery and an eating room for the Royal Household staff, amongst other uses. It was developed in the 19th century to create space for the Lord Chamberlain’s Office, the Servants’ Hall and the Office of the Yeoman of the Pantry. It has since been restored back to the medieval interior it started out as. The Cafe was created in 2020.

In Spring 2025, we were asked to restore the oak floors in this gorgeous vaulted space.

Once we’d navigated the extensive security measures, we were let loose on the on the floors, stripping back the years of wear and tear to bring them back to their best. We invited the UK Loba reps to join us on this project and we finished the floors with a super hardwearing finish, Loba 2k Supra, which should keep the floors looking beautful for years to come.
